What It Is

Rhinoplasty is a plastic surgery procedure designed to give the nose any desired shape. The surgery may be necessitated to correct the shape, reconstruct the nose, restore its functions or as an aesthetic procedure to improve its beauty. For aesthetic purposes, it can be used to change the angle or size of the nose, reshape the tip and generally correct defects in the nose.

Why Perform Rhinoplasty

Rhinoplasty is a medical procedure that is used to correct problems in the structure of the nose. These may be present at birth or may have developed at a later stage. It may be caused by trauma to the nose during a fall, or active sports and activities. These can result in frequent breathlessness and persistent congestion, necessitating surgery.

The nose, being in the center of the face attracts a lot of attention during any interaction with other people. Rhinoplasty can be used to improve the symmetry of your face making you more confident. You can resize and reshape your nose, alter its angle and make it proportionate to your face.

What To Expect

Rhinoplasty involves making Nose Job Malaysiaof tiny incisions to access the cartilage and bones of the nose. The patient does not end up with visible scars as the incisions are made on the inner part of the nose. The desired form is achieved by removing some cartilage or bone and adding tissue. Once the bone and cartilage are suitably shaped and arranged, the tissue and skin are replaced. A splint placed appropriately and nasal packing supports the new shape till it heals fully.

Rhinoplasty surgery is carried out in Malaysia under local or general anesthesia. It is routinely performed as an outpatient procedure but could require hospitalization in some cases.

Post-surgery procedures and care
The surgical packing inserted during the Rhinoplasty will be removed in the next two days following the surgery. In a week’s time, the splint and bandaging around the nose would also be removed.

It is normal for your face to feel  puffy and for the area surrounding your eyes and nose to be swollen and have bruises for some days after the surgery. You can reduce the swelling and get some relief from the pain by applying cold compresses to the area. A pain killer may also be recommended by your doctor. The swelling and bruises will show signs of improvement in 10 to 14 days.

Keeping your head raised and your body still for a few days immediately after the surgery will help in rapid healing. You should not engage in any strenuous activities for several  weeks post-surgery.

Results from Rhinoplasty
The results of Rhinoplasty may vary depending on the type and extent of the correction required. You should discuss your expectations from the procedure with your surgeon and arrive at a common goal. A plastic surgeon will be in a position to fulfill your reasonable expectations once he is clear about your desires. The results, once achieved will be permanent.

Cosmetic surgery can only be performed once the nose is fully developed. Surgery before this may cause complications and the further development of the nose can mar the results of the surgery.

Risks
Risks in Rhinoplasty include temporary bruising and swelling near the eyes and nose, bleeding, holes or injury to the septum and skin breakdown.
